3D Video Capture and its Applications

Event Location: 1507 NSH
Bio: Shohei Nobuhara received his Ph.D. from Kyoto University, Japan, in 2005. From 2005 to 2007, he was a postdoctoral researcher at Kyoto University. Since 2007, he has been an assistant professor at Kyoto University. His research interests include 3D video, multiple-view geometry, 3D shape and motion estimation.

Abstract: “3D video” is a new visual media which records the object in the real world as it is. Unlike ‘3D TVs’, 3D video captures not 2.5D but the full 3D shapes and texture of the object. In this presentation I will introduce (1) our algorithms and systems to capture the 3D video, and (2) some applications including editing, compression, and visualization.
