Bio: Mel is a founder and the CEO of Autonomous Solutions, Inc. Prior to founding ASI in 2000, he held a position managing robotics development programs for John Deere, the US Departments of Defense and Energy, and NASA Space Shuttle Payloads at Utah State University. ASI has worked over the last 12 years with some of the largest companies in the world deploying hundreds of driverless vehicles in Mining, Agriculture, Automotive, and Material Handling. He holds a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from Utah State University.

Abstract: Mel Torrie will share his experiences in building a driverless vehicle company without investment capital. Topics will include company culture, partnering, government funding, focus vs. diversity, and creating new markets. He will also cover his thoughts on the industry and where it is headed in the near future.
