Computer Vision to Improve Navigation with Retinal Implants
Conference Paper, Proceedings of 40th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBC '18), July, 2018
Abstract
Retinal prostheses for the blind can restore the perception of light for individuals with severe blindness. The ability of retinal implant patients to recognize objects is limited due to the low resolution of current implants. Computer vision has the potential to perform object recognition and path planning, and augment overall patient performance.
