Detection of Small Obstacles at Long Range Using Multibaseline Stereo
Conference Paper, Proceedings of IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Vehicles (IV '98), Vol. 1, pp. 311 - 316, October, 1998
Abstract
This paper presents a multibaseline stereo technique specially suited to detecting obstacles. First, we describe traditional multibaseline stereo and explain why it is not suitable for obstacle detection. This analysis leads directly to a suitable method. Then we describe the obstacle detection system that we have built. Finally, we show results from our system for a variety of different obstacles under different lighting conditions.
