More than 1,000 area middle-school students on Saturday, December 6, will demonstrate their problem-solving skills, creative thinking and teamwork as they pit their customized robots against each other in the “Climate Connection” Challenge at the National Robotics Engineering Center in Lawrenceville.
The event, hosted by the Robotics Academy, is part of the FIRST LEGO League, an international program for 9- to 14-year-old children. Since September, 72 teams of students have been researching climate change and programming their robots to undertake missions related to greenhouse gases, wildlife and the changing climate.
Winners will have the opportunity to participate in the U.S. Open Championship at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, May 7-9.
